본 연구는 남코카서스에서 부상한 잔게주르(Zangezur) 회랑 개발 논의의 전개와 이를 둘러싼 역내외국가들의 전략적 이해관계를 검토하고, 회랑이 갖는 정치⋅경제적 함의를 분석하는 데 목적을 둔다. 러시아⋅우크라이나 전쟁 이후 러시아의 영향력 약화와 나고르노-카라바흐 분쟁 종식 속에서 잔게주르 회랑구상은 남코카서스를 새로운 지정학 경쟁의 중심지로 부상시켰다. 본 연구는 아르메니아, 아제르바이잔, 러시아, 튀르키예, 이란, 미국이라는 주요 행위자의 전략적 이해관계를 토대로 회랑의 지경학적, 지정학적의미를 분석한다. 이를 통해 잔게주르 회랑이 향후 남코카서스와 유라시아 질서에 중장기적 변화를 촉발할잠재력을 지니며 지역의 질서가 안정과 불안정이 교차하는 다극적 구조로 재편될 가능성을 제시한다.
Abstract
This study examines the development of discussions about the Zangezur Corridor in South Caucasus and analyzes the strategic interests of both regional and extra-regional actors involved. After the Russia-Ukraine war, the South Caucasus has entered a period of change, driven by the weakening of Russian influence and new opportunities for geopolitical reconfiguration. The end of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the advancement of peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have brought the Zangezur Corridor to the forefront of regional attention, making the area an increasingly contested space among major powers. By examining the interests and strategic calculations of Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Iran and the U.S., this study highlights the geoeconomic and geopolitical implications associated with the corridor’s potential realization. The findings suggest that, despite significant uncertainties, the Zangezur Corridor could play a key role in shaping medium-to long term changes in both the South Caucasus and the Eurasian region. Overall, the study argues that the ongoing debates and strategic actions around the corridor reflect a move toward a more complex and multipolar regional order, where stability and instability may exist at the same time.
