Abstract
The purpose of this article is to describe theoretical and practical basses for extensive reading(ER), and to investigate the way to implement it as a program(or a course) in Education of Korean as a Foreign Language. In ER program it is important to maximize input rather than output, with minimal post-reading tasks(e.g., reading records, book reports), and learners(leveled readers) select reading materials from a wide variety of genres and language levels, and read them for interest and enjoyment. As a preliminary study for developing an efficient method of ER program for Korean students, this article aims to set forth some problems for selection of leveled materials and procedure for setting it up as a kind of actual system. ER program will help students to receive as much comprehensible input as possible outside of the classroom, and the input develop their sustained automaticity and fluency in acquisition of Korean.
