고급 한국어 교재 내 읽기 자료의 텍스트 전형성 연구 -사설·칼럼 텍스트 분석을 바탕으로-

한국어 읽기 교육에 있어서 학습자들에게 형식면에서 전형적인 텍스트를 제공하는 것은 그들의 스키마를 개발하고, 글에 대한 이해력을 증진시켜 의사소통능력을 향상시키는 데 매우 중요하다. 따라서 교재 편찬이나 교육 자료 개발을 위해 텍스트를 다룰 때 그 형식상의 특성이 훼손되거나 무시되지 않도록 주의해야 한다. 이 연구에서는 신문 말뭉치의 사설·칼럼 텍스트 분석을 통해 그 형식적 특성을 외적 형식(지면 구성 및 시각적 장치, 저자 정보, 분량)과 내적 형식(표제 구성과 특징, 논지 전개 방식, 필자-독자 간 거리 및 문체)으로 나누어 추출하였다. 그리고 이를 기준으로 현용 한국어 교재에 실린 사설·칼럼 텍스트의 전형성을 검토한 결과를 바탕으로 교재 텍스트가 전형적 특성에서 벗어난다는 점을 문제로 지적하였다. 그리고 향후 한국어 읽기 교육을 위한 텍스트로 사설·칼럼을 선정하거나 제작할 때 고려해야 할 사항을 제시하였다. 이러한 연구는 읽기 자료로서 텍스트가 지녀야 할 형식적 틀의 중요성을 환기하고, 학습자들의 형식 스키마를 개발할 수 있는 교육용 텍스트 개발에 참고가 될 만한 자료를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
In teaching Korean reading, selecting or developing a typical text in terms of its formal structure is one of the essential elements in activating students' formal schema and improving their comprehension. However, in many cases, this principle is not strictly observed in selecting or developing reading materials for Korean textbooks. Based on this recognition, this article analyzed the corpus of authentic editorial/column texts and compared their formal text typicality and the structural features of the materials presented in current Korean textbooks. The comparison was made on the basis of three external formal factors (article layout, author's information, & article length) and three internal formal factors (headline format, types of argument development, & style of writing). As a way of narrowing the gap found from the comparison, a certain set of guidelines was suggested for handling editorials and columns for reading material development. Even though this article does not cover all the fundamental text types, this attempt is meaningful as a stepping stone toward establishing complete standards for selecting or developing reading materials.
