실용음악 교육 박사학위논문을 통한 연구 경향과 과제 도출

최근 테크놀로지와 미디어 환경의 급속한 변화 속에서 실용음악 교육의 학문적․사회적 중요성이 커지고 있으나, 기존 연구는 유사한 문제 제기의 반복과 현장 적용 부족 등 한계를 보이고 있다. 본 연구는 실용음악을 대중음악을 포함하는 포괄적 개념으로 정의하고, 국내 박사학위 논문을 중심으로 실용음악 교육 분야의 연구 경향을 분석하여 향후 과제를 도출하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 RISS에서 실용음악 관련 키워드로 수집한 1,793편의 박사학위 논문 중 교육 분야에 해당하는 35편을 최종 분석 대상으로 선정하고 내용분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 2017년 이후 실용음악 교육 연구는 양적으로 증가하고 있으며, 연구자 전공의 융합화, 기술 기반 교육 주제의 확대, 혼합연구 중심 방법론, 다양한 대상과 주제의 확산 경향이 나타났다. 실용음악 교육 연구는 교육과정 간 연계, 현장 적용 가능성, 비인지적 요소에 대한 접근, 정책 연계성을 중심으로 정립될 필요가 있으며, 실용음악 교육의 학문적 정체성을 강화하고 교육 현장에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있는 방향으로 나아가야 함을 제언한다.
Abstract
With the rapid evolution of technology and media, the academic and social importance of practical music education is growing. However, current research frequently reiterates similar problems and lacks practical applicability in educational settings. This study defines practical music as a broad concept that includes popular music and analyzes research trends based on Korean doctoral dissertations, aiming to suggest future directions. From 1,793 dissertations collected through the RISS database using relevant keywords, 35 education-related studies were selected for content analysis. Findings indicate a steady increase in research since 2017, marked by interdisciplinary researcher backgrounds, a rise in technology-driven themes, widespread use of mixed methods, and diversification of subjects and topics. The study suggests that future research should prioritize curriculum integration, classroom application, non-cognitive factors, and policy relevance. It concludes by emphasizing the need to solidify the academic identity of practical music education and enhance its practical contribution to the educational field.
