우리나라의 현악교육 연구 경향 분석: 음악교육 전공 석사 학위 논문(1974-2009)의 내용 분석을 통하여

Abstract

The identification of trends in music education research can serve the profession not only by revealing what has been of scholarly interest in the past but by providing researchers with a sense of perspective when formulating and refining future research questions. The purpose of this study is to analyze master research written between 1974 and 2009 related to string education. A search of the National Assembly Library index of master thesis revealed 171 thesis concerning string education. These thesis titles and abstracts were analyzed for year of completion, research subject, instrument, six topic areas, and research methods. Six topic areas include music curriculum, music teaching-learning methods, extra-curricular music aptitude activity, music psychology, special education, and others. Research methods include literature analysis, history analysis, survey and interviews, and experiment. Results indicated that the great number of string education thesis were written in the 2000s; violin was researched more than other string instrument; and the topic area addressed most often was teaching-learning methods, extra-curricular music aptitude activity, and music curriculum; the most used research tool was literature analysis, survey and interviews, and experiment. It was suggested that research be expanded to such topics as string teacher education, special education, music assessment, and ICT related education. More importantly, string education thesis should be shared with the large academic community through more presentations at professional conferences and publications, thereby affording a wider audience the chance to formulate related or follow-up research questions or to implement findings.
