자폐 범주성 장애학생의 고등교육 및 전환 관련 연구동향과 과제

최근 국내외에서 장애인 고등교육에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있으며, 실제로 대학에 진학하는 자폐 범주성 장애학생들이 지속적으로 늘어나고 있다. 본 연구는 자폐 범주성 장애의 고등교육 및 전환을 다룬 연구를 종합 분석하여 현재까지의 연구 동향을 정리하고 전환기 및 대학에서의 지원을 위한 구체적인 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 현재까지 국내외에서 발표된 22편의 논문을 분석 자료로 활용하여 연구방법 및 연구의 주제별로 분석이 이루어졌다. 문헌 분석의 결과 이 분야의 연구는 크게 (1) 고등교육에 대한 학생, 부모, 전문가간의 인식, (2) 고등교육으로의 성공적인 전환 계획, (3) 대학을 기반으로 한 중등이후 교육 및 프로그램 모형, (4) 자폐 범주성 장애대학생을 위한 지원영역 등 네 가지 범주로 정리될 수 있었다. 이러한 분석 결과를 바탕으로 자폐 범주성 장애학생의 성공적인 고등교육으로의 전환 및 대학 내 지원을 위해 다음과 같은 논의가 이루어졌다. (1) 실제적인 지원을 위한 연구 대상 및 주제의 확대, (2) 자폐 범주성 장애의 특성을 고려한 지원의 체계 및 실행 기준의 마련, (3) 서비스 제공자들의 정확한 이해와 이를 기반으로 한 실질적인 지원의 필요, (4) 고등교육으로의 전환 및 대학 이후의 취업으로 연계되는 고등교육의 성과에 대한 지속적인 연구의 필요, (5) 연구기반의 실제를 구축하기 위한 프로그램들의 개발 및 효과에 대한 검증의 필요.
Abstract
The purpose of this study were two folds: (1) to review and analyze higher education and transition research for students with ASD and (2) to provide directions for future research and practice. A total 22 studies from peer-reviewed journals published in English and Korean, were chosen for an integrated literature review. The result from this study were classified into four categories: (1) perceptions of students, parents and professionals toward higher education of students with ASD, (2) transition planning for successful higher education, (3) college-based post-secondary education and programs models, and (4) support areas for students with ASD. From the results, implications for future research and practice were discussed, including (1) expanding of research topics and subjects to support students with ASD practically, (2) making policies and standards of support system based on ASD students’ characteristics, (3) providing practical supports based on understanding of service providers, and (4) needs of studies on higher education outcomes closely connected to transition to higher education and employment after graduating colleges, and (5) developing programs and examining the effects of those to build research-based practice.
