In this study, the use of strategies and changes in face of apology-speaker and apology-hearer according to the mutual actions of Korea and Japan and the restoration of relations were investigated through TV dramas. As a result, it was found that, in the use of strategies, Korea focuses on relationship recovery from the point of view of mutual action, but uses strategies for ‘problem solving’ and ‘relationship maintenance’ equally. On the other hand, in Japan, both the person making the apology and the person receiving the apology focus on ‘relationship restoration’. Finally, for the situation of apology within the social role covered in this study, expanding the scope will be a future task.
Abstract
