쿠스코 스페인어에 나타나는 구개설측음의 변이에 대한 계량 사회언어학적 분석

본 연구에서는 쿠스코 지역 스페인어를 대상으로 구개설측음 /ʎ/를 변이 사회언어학적 변이 이론의 관점에서 분석한다. 분석에는 2022년 7~8월 현지에서 수집한 사회언어학 면담 자료를 활용하였다. 참여자들은 쿠스코 지역의 남성 화자 12명, 여성 화자 12명으로 구성되며, 이들은 연령에 따라 1세대(18~34세), 2세대(35~54세), 3세대(55세 이상)로 구분된다. 각 면담은 40~60분 정도 진행되었다. 면담 자료에서 복합 문자 ‘ll’만을 대상으로 변이 양상을 분석한 결과, /ʎ/가 [ʎ]로 실현된 비율은 44.8%로 나타났다. [ʎ]의 실현에 어떠한 변수가 통계적으로 유의미하게 영향을 미치는지 파악하고자 Goldvarb X를 활용한 다중회귀분석과 LVS 통계 패키지를 이용한 조건부 추론 나무 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 쿠스코 지역에서 /ʎ/의 변이에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 화자의 연령인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 쿠스코 지역에서도 다른 스페인어 사용 지역과 마찬가지로 /ʎ/의 비음운화 현상이 진행되고 있음을 보여주지만, 주목할 점은 세대 간 [ʎ]의 실현 비율에 있어서 차이가 매우 크게 나타났다는 점이다. 이러한 추세가 지속된다면 향후 수십 년 이내에 이 지역에서도 예이스모가 완성될 것으로 예측된다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the palatal lateral phoneme /ʎ/ in Cuzco Spanish from the perspective of variationist sociolinguistics. The analysis is based on sociolinguistic interview data collected in Cuzco between July and August 2022. The participants consist of 12 male and 12 female speakers from the Cuzco region, classified into three generational groups: Generation 1(ages 18～34), Generation 2(ages 35～54), and Generation 3(ages 55 and older). Each interview lasted approximately 40 to 60 minutes. Focusing solely on occurrences of the digraph ‘ll’ in the interview data, the analysis revealed that /ʎ/ was realized as [ʎ] in 44.8% of the cases. To determine which variables significantly influence the realization of [ʎ], a multivariate analysis was conducted using Goldvarb X, along with a conditional inference tree analysis using the LVS statistical package. The results indicate that the speaker’s age is the most influential factor affecting variation in the realization of /ʎ/ in Cuzco. These findings suggest that, as in many other Spanish-speaking regions, the process of yeísmo is underway in Cuzco. Notably, the generational gap in the realization rate of [ʎ] is particularly pronounced. If this trend continues, it is projected that yeísmo will become fully established in the region within the next few decades.
