음악은 느낌의 세계를 표현한다. 특히 노래는 구체적인표현의 도구인 언어로 된 가사가 있는 음악형식이기 때문에 다른 여러 음악형식들보다 악곡의 표현의도에 대한 공감과 이를 통한 심미적 체험이 용이하다. 노래의 표현은기본적으로 가사로 사용된 시에서 근거한다. 따라서 노래가사의 시적 의미를 발견하고 공감을 하는 과정에서 학생들은 악곡의 표현적 의도에 공감을 하고 심미적 경험을하게 된다. 그러나 노래의 가사로 사용되는 시는 문학 장르 중에서 가장 주관적인 양식으로, 상상과 이미지, 그리고 추론을 통해 주제를 해석하는 문학이기 때문에 초등학생들이 노래가사를 읽고 시어의 전언적 의미를 넘어선 깊이 있는 이해와 공감을 하는 것은 결코 쉽지 않은 일이다. 따라서 본 연구는 초등학생들이 노래가사를 이해하고공감을 하여 노래를 통한 표현과 심미적 체험이 가능하도록 하는 지도접근방안을 고찰해보고자 하였다. 오늘날의 스토리텔링은 이야기가 구현되는 상황, 대상, 필요성 등에 따라서 매우 유동적이다. 초등학생들은소설에 비해 시를 어려워하는데 그 이유는 시의 이야기성 부족 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 시를 이야기로 구성하는 부분에 역점을 두었다. 연구는 우선 노래가사로사용되는 시의 특성 및 시의 이해를 돕는 스토리 구성에 대해 설명하고 창작동요 ‘달팽이의 하루’의 노래가사를 제재로 하여 스토리텔링을 위한 스토리 구성의 예들을 제시하였다. 노래가사인 시를 바탕으로 하여 체계적이고 표현적으로 잘 구성된 이야기는 단순히 전언적 의미로 이해될법한 노래가사가 초등학생들에게 공감과 심미적 체험의 기회를 제공하는 지도방안이 될 수 있다는가능성이 확인되었다.
Abstract
Much of the expressive nature of songs has its origin in its lyrics which are especially appealing to children. Therefore, teachers are often asked to teach students to appreciate and interpret the texts properly. However teaching children to appreciate song-text is challenging because the poetic qualities are lack of requisite characteristics of a story. Therefore the aim of this paper was to suggest using the content, structure, and a specific process of creating a story as a method for teaching song-texts. ‘Storytelling’ can be broken down into its basic components of 'story' and 'telling' which are currently experiencing a considerable revival of interest in the education field. This has led many educators to think about ways in which storytelling can be used as an effective teaching tool because stories have the power to command emotion, to compel involvement, and to transport us into timelessness. Stories are a way in which we can grasp difficult concepts, remember and understand, and evoke powerful emotional responses. Therefore transforming lyrics of a song into a story can be an effective method to help student clarify and appreciate the poetic qualities of songs. In order to show how storytelling can be an effective method to teach song-texts to children, the concept of the storytelling as a teaching tool were discussed as well as the characteristics of poetry, and then the requisite conditions to create a story based on poetry are explained. Also three examples of story making based on the song-text of ‘A day of Snail’ were introduced to prove the educational value of storytelling.
