본 연구는 서울시의 자치구별 공원의 분포현황과 정원의 조성현황을 조사하였다. 그 결과, 자치구별로 면적의 차이가 발생하고 있었으며, 특히, 공원면적과 1인당 공원면적, 보도생활권 공원면적, 1인당 보도생활권 공원면적에서는 차이가 나타났다. 즉, 서울시민들이 체감하는 공원면적은 일반적으로 알려져 있는 공원면적과는 차이가 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 서울시의 자치구별 행복지수를 파악한 결과, 대체적으로 성북구, 서대문구, 성동구, 동작구, 구로구의 시민들이 행복지수가 높다는 것을 알 수 있어, 일반적으로 경제적인 생활수준이 높다고 알려진 강남 3구와 용산구의 시민들이 행복지수가 높을 것이라는 추측과는 다른 결과가 나타났다. 그리고, 서울시의 공원면적과 행복지수와의 관계를 회귀분석을 통해 파악한 결과, 보도생활권의 1인당 공원면적이 증가할수록 행복지수가 높아진다는 것을 파악하였다. 즉, 서울시민들이 생활하면서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 공원의 존재가 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 서울시가 시민들의 행복지수를 높여, 살기 좋고 행복한 도시를 조성하기 위해서는 시민들이 체감할 수 있는 공간에 공원을 조성할 필요가 있다고 할 수 있다. 또한, 현재 서울시에서 추진 중인 정원도시 사업은 외곽의 산악지역이 아닌 서울시 중심부에 집중적으로 정원을 조성하고 있으므로, 실효성이 클 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
This study examined the distribution of parks and the current status of garden development across administrative districts in Seoul. The findings revealed significant differences among districts in terms of total park area, per capita park area, pedestrian-accessible park area, and per capita pedestrian-accessible park area. Notably, the park area perceived by citizens was found to differ from the officially reported Figures. An analysis of the happiness index by district indicated that residents in Seongbuk-gu, Seodaemun-gu, Seongdong-gu, Dongjak-gu, and Guro-gu reported relatively higher happiness levels, which contrasted with the common assumption that residents of the affluent “Gangnam 3 districts” and Yongsan-gu would exhibit the highest happiness levels. Furthermore, regression analysis of the relationship between park area and happiness index demonstrated that an increase in per capita pedestrian-accessible park area was associated with higher happiness levels. This suggests that easily accessible parks play a crucial role in enhancing citizens’ well-being. Consequently, in order to foster a more livable and happier city, Seoul should prioritize the creation of parks in spaces where residents can directly experience and benefit from them.
