광장정치의 논리 -카시러(Ernst Cassirer)의 견해를 중심으로-

최근 한국사회는 극단적으로 국론이 분열되어 있다. 정치권과 시민사회, 나아가 국민들이 결국 두 쪽으로 분열되고 말았다. 광장정치가 대의정치의 자리를 차지하게 되었다. 이런 광장정치의 현실 앞에서 철학은, 철학자는 무엇을 할 수 있고, 어떻게 해야 하는가? 이 사태를 어떻게 진단하고 처방해야 할 것인가? 이런 맥락에서 필자는 광장정치의 현상을 바라보면서 우리시대가 요청하는 철학의 실천과 철학자의 역할을 곰곰이 되새기게 되었다. 이 과정에서 필자는 카시러(Ernst Cassirer 1874-1945)의 관점에 주목하고자 한다. 그는 나치정권에 치열하게 항거하고 나치즘의 정치 이데올로기를 치밀하게 분석하여 들추어냈다. 따라서 지금 여기에서 벌어지고 있는 광장정치의 논리를 규명하는데도 그의 예리한 통찰은 유의미하게 작용할 수 있을 것이다. 이 글에서는 먼저 철학의 실천과 철학자의 역할에 대해 살펴보고, 이를 토대로 광장정치의 현상에 대해 철학적인 규정을 하고자 한다. 그리고 광장정치의 기제방식과 작동원리를 제시하고, 이에 근거하여 궁극적으로는 광장정치의 실체를 밝혀보고자 한다.
Abstract
Nowadays, Korea society was divided two camps, that is, the conservative and the progressive by political circles and civil societies. And then the politics of public square substituted for the representative politics. In this situation, what can do philosophy and philosophers. How we can make a diagnosis and a prescription about this politics of public square. In this context, we have to consider a practice of philosophy and the role of philosophers. In this process, we will focus on Ernst Cassirer's view point in terms of his political philosophy. Cassirer was strongly resisted for Nazism and sharply analyzed about ideology of Nazism. Therefore we will use Cassirer's view point in order to examine the logic of politics of public square in our society. In this article, firstly we will deal with a practice of philosophy and philosophically define about the phenomena of politics of public square. And nextly we will reveal the mechanism and operation of politics of public square. Finally we will disclose the logic of politics of public square.
