이 논문은 카시러(Ernst Cassirer, 1874-1945)의 문화철학을 통해 끊임없이 변화하는 삶과 문화의 관계를 해명하기 위해 자유와 형식의 변증법이라는 주제를 제시한다. 카시러는 문화철학에 자신만의 사유방식을 도입하고 있으며, 그에 따라 문화의 갱생과 지속의 변증법적 운동을 고찰하고 있다. 문화의 변증법적인 운동은 근본적으로 문화형식과 자유의 이념과의 상관관계로부터 비롯된다. 따라서 본 연구는 카시러의 사유방식, 즉 비판적 현상학적 방법에 따라, 문화철학의 대상으로서 표정지각을, 문화형식으로서 양식개념들을 논하고, 문화의 형식과 구조를 해명한다. 또한 문화철학에서의 자유와 문화형식의 변증법적인 관계를 논함으로써 문화의 발전 속에서 창조적인 인간 정신과 자유의 성취, 인간성의 도야와 윤리, 그리고 책임의 문제 역시 함께 사유한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to elucidate the relation between culture and life that changes continuously by Ernst Cassirer(1874-1945)’s philosophy of human culture. Ernst Cassirer applied his own thinking way to the philosophy of human culture and considered the dialectical movement of the rehabilitation and sustainability of culture in terms of the way. The dialectical movement of culture comes from the interrelation between the form of culture and the idea of freedom basically. So, this study takes the critical-phenomenological method that Ernst Cassirer accepted from Kant’s critical idealism and Hegel’s Phenomenology. And it considers perception of expression as the object of the philosophy of human culture and discusses concepts of style as the form of culture. Thus it should make clear form and structure of culture and has to consider the creative human mind, the achievement of freedom, the building of humanity, and moreover Ethics and responsibility in cultural development.
