이 연구는 중도 실명 시각장애학생의 흰지팡이 보행에 대한 실제 경험을 바탕으로 그에 따른 요구를 알아보고, 합리성 있는 흰지팡이 보행교육 및 지원체계를 구축하는 것을 목적으로 질적 연구 방법에 의해 수행되었다. 연구 목적 달성을 위해 중도 실명 시각장애학생 5명을 개별면담하여 흰지팡이 보행의 경험과 요구를 분석하였다. 중도 실명 시각장애학생은 흰지팡이를 사용하여 독립보행을 수행하고, 이를 통해 자신감과 성취감을 느끼며, 학업과 일상생활 더 나아가 사회참여 기회를 확대하고 있다. 아울러 흰지팡이 사용에 대한 긍정적인 측면과 함께 문제점에 대한 새로운 대안을 제시함으로써 향후 흰지팡이 보행의 독립성과 안전성을 확보하는 노력이 필요하다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the needs of adventitiously visually impaired students based on their actual experience of orientation and mobility with a cane and develop a reasonable education and support system for orientation and mobility with a cane. For this, qualitative research was carried out where 5 adventitiously visually impaired students were interviewed individually to analyze their experience of and needs for orientation and mobility with a cane. Students with adventitious visual impairments use a cane for independent orientation and mobility, based on which they feel a sense of confidence and accomplishment, and study, continue on a daily routine, and even try to expand their social participation. It is required to secure independency and safety of orientation and mobility with a cane down the road by suggesting new alternatives for its problems as well as positive aspects of the use of canes.
