시각장애인복지관 보행교사의 일반학교 맹아동에 대한 보행훈련 실행 연구

이 연구는 특수교육기관에서 일반학교의 맹아동에게 보행훈련을 제공하기 어려운 현 상황에 대한 대안으로, 시각장애인복지관에 의한 맹아동 대상의 보행훈련 프로그램을 발전시키고자 수행된 현장 연구이다. 이를 위해 서울 지역의 S시각장애인복지관 보행교사와 함께 일반 초등학교 맹아동 두 명을 대상으로 2달 동안 총 8회에 걸쳐 개선된 보행훈련 프로그램을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 맹아동의 독립보행에 대한 흥미와 동기 증가, 전반적인 걸음걸이 자세의 개선, 안내법 시 보조원의 편안함과 안정감 증가, 일반교사의 안전에 대한 지나친 우려 감소, 교사와 부모의 보행훈련 중요성에 대한 인식 변화, 복지관 보행교사의 맹아동 보행훈련에 대한 이해와 자신감 증가 등의 관련자 모두에게 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 향후 시각장애인복지관에서 일반학교 맹아동 대상의 보행훈련 프로그램이 발전되기 위해서는 지역 여건 및 수요에 따라 정규 프로그램으로 운영될 수 있도록 인적․재정적 지원이 필요하며, 발달기 맹아동에 대한 이해와 경험이 부족한 복지관 보행교사를 위한 현직 연수도 이루어져야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This research focuses on developing orientation and mobility(O & M) program of blind children by the welfare centers for the visually impaired. So it applied the new O & M program to two blind children for one hour and twenty minutes in 8 sessions. the major findings of the study were as follows:the new O & M program positively influenced a party concerned blind children. First, blind children increased interests for independent travel and got better gait and posture. Second, special education assistants improved comport and security in sighted guide. Third, general teachers decreased in anxiety for mobility safety, Fourth, general teachers and parents became higher the awareness level for importance of O & M training. Fifth, O & M teacher of the welfare center increased the understanding and confidence for O & M training of blind children. So, some welfare centers for people with visually impairment have to make O & M program of blind children into regular program according to local conditions. Also O & M teachers of the welfare centers need to be provided in-service training related to O & M training of blind children
