자유학년 및 연계자유학기의 학생평가 유형 분석

이 연구는 경기도 소재 중학교의 자유학년 및 연계자유학기의 학생평가 유형을 비교·분석한 것이다. 분석 대상은경기도 소재 중학교 130개교의 2017년 1학년 1, 2학기(자유학년), 2017년 2학년 1학기(일반학기), 2018년 2학년 1학기(연계자유학기)의 평가계획서이며, 자유학년, 연계자유학기, 일반학기 평가의 특징을 파악하기 위해 추가적으로 학생평가에전문성이 있는 현직 중학교 교사 20명을 대상으로 개방형 설문조사를 실시하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자유학년 및 연계자유학기의 학생평가는 학생 참여 중심의 다양한 과정 중심 평가 방식을 주로 활용하고 있으며, 연계자유학기에서는 일반학기에 비해 과목별 지필평가의 횟수 및 비중이 줄고 과정 중심 평가의 비중 및 횟수가확대되었다. 둘째, 교사 대상 개방형 설문 결과, 자유학년 학생평가는 다양하고 저부담의 개인별 평가가 가능하다는이점이 있는 반면 교사의 업무 부담, 평가의 공정성 우려, 연계학기에 대한 부담이라는 난점이 있었다. 또한 연계자유학기의경우 다양한 방식을 통한 평가의 개선이 나타나 일반학기와의 간극이 해소된다는 점이 긍정적이나, 평가의 공정성에대한 우려, 교사 및 학생의 평가에 대한 부담이 해결해야 할 과제로 나타났다. 이는 과정중심 평가를 수행할 수있는 교사의 평가 전문성 신장을 위한 지원과 더불어 교사와 학생의 부담을 덜 수 있는 평가 방법 개선, 연계 자유학기시기의 지필 평가와 과정 중심 평가 일원화 등과 관련된 연구 및 개선이 필요함을 시사한다.
Abstract
In this study, 130 middle schools in Gyeonggi-do were selected to analyze the student assessment during Free School Year and semi- free semester of middle school in Gyeonggi-do. Evaluation plans for the first and second semesters of freshmen in 2017 (Free School Year), the first semester of sophomore in 2017 (general semester), and the first semester of sophomores in 2018 (semi- free semester) were collected and the open questionnaire was conducted on 20 incumbent middle school teachers. The followings are the results. First, various ways of student evaluation in the Free Semester and the semi-free semester were being practiced while student-participatory process-based evaluation was the dominant form. Compared to general semesters, visibly fewer written tests were given to students in the Free Semester as process-based evaluation practice was taking over. The open-ended survey revealed that the student evaluation in the Free School Year offered diversity and low-stake individual evaluation; however, the new evaluation practice posed concerns about the increased administrative works imposed on teachers, the diminished objectivity of the evaluation, and the pressure for the semi-free semester. The evaluation practice in the subsequent Free Semester was shown to narrow gaps between the Free Semester and the existing general semester; on the other hand, it also raised concerns about the diminished objectivity of evaluation result, and the pressure imposed on teachers and students. To promote teachers' evaluation competency and to lessen the administrative workload that existing evaluation incurs, further research must be conducted so as to improve evaluation method and to identify a threshold to administer written test and process-based test.
