본 논문은 도덕교육이 그 목적을 효과적으로 달성하기 위해서는 도덕교육의 목표로서 ‘도덕적 인간’이 보다 구체적으로 제시될 필요가 있다고 주장하고, 그 구체화의 방법론으로서 각각 도덕적 가치, 도덕적 규칙, 도덕적 덕의 분류학을 제시한다. 도덕교육의 목표인 ‘도덕적 인간’의 구체화는 도덕교육의 내용으로서 ‘도덕’의 구체화를 통해서 이루어질 수 있다. 나아가 ‘도덕’의 구체화는 그것의 존재론적, 인식론적, 실천론적 정당화의 근거가 되는 ‘도덕성’의 구체화를 통해서 이론적 지지를 받을 수 있다. 본 논문은 그 일련의 구체화 작업은 각각 도덕적 가치, 도덕적 규칙, 도덕적 덕의 분류학에 근거해서 성공적으로 진행될 수 있다고 주장한다. ‘도덕성’에 관한 현대 메타윤리학적 논쟁은 ‘도덕성’의 존재론적 지위에 관한 실재론 대 반실재론의 논쟁, ‘도덕성’의 인지적 특성에 관한 인지주의 대 비인지주의의 논쟁, ‘도덕성’의 행위 지침력 혹은 동기 유발력에 관한 내재주의 대 외재주의의 논쟁으로 나누어 진행되어 왔다. 본 논문은 이러한 메타윤리학적 논쟁이 각각 도덕적 가치, 도덕적 규칙, 도덕적 덕에 대한 논쟁으로 분화될 때 의미있는 결론이 도출될 수 있음을 주장한다. 또한 관습주의, 이기주의, 쾌락주의, 공리주의, 의무론, 덕윤리 등 규범윤리학의 다양한 주장들 역시 도덕적 가치, 도덕적 규칙, 도덕적 덕으로 나누어 검토될 때 각각의 주장하는 ‘도덕’의 의미가 보다 분명해진다고 주장한다. 결국 ‘도덕성’과 ‘도덕’을 둘러싼 다양한 논의들이 가치, 규칙, 덕의 분류학에 근거하여 그 의미가 보다 선명하게 제시되고, 그 결과물이 도덕교육의 목표인 ‘도덕적 인간’을 보다 구체화하는 데 활용될 수 있다면 도덕교육은 더욱 효과적으로 이루어질 수 있다고 주장한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to suggest the taxonomy of values, rules, and virtues as a methodological tool for achievement of moral education. In general, the goal of moral education is to make 'moral human being' by intentional education. But that is too broad or rough to depict in details what is 'moral human being' as the goal of moral education. Therefore 'moral human being' should be more specified. In this study, it will be suggested that the taxonomy of values, rules and virtues would be a useful tool for it. As we know, the contemporary meta ethical debates are divided three parts; ontological, epistemological, and practical debates. But those debates may affect moral education negatively, because that there are many different opinions about what is morality. The same may be said of normative ethical debates. Each ethical theories insist their own 'morals' on their own position. There are many different 'morals', id est, many different 'good', 'right', 'duty' etc., which ethical theories such like conventionalism, egoism, hedonism, utilitarianism, deontology insist. So, in order to teach effectively morals students, their differences should be understood more accurately by some objective and neutral tools that can compare, analyse and evaluate them. In this study, it will be insisted that the taxonomy of values, rules and virtues will be a very useful tool.
