덕 윤리학을 위한 덕 개념 고찰

완성된 형태의 덕 윤리를 제공하기 위해서는 덕에 대한 정의와 해명이 충분하고 분명하게 이루어 져야 한다. 그동안 윤리학 내에서 덕에 대한 논의는 두 가지 방식으로 이루어져 왔다. 첫째, 의무 규칙이 윤리적 삶의 일차적 개념이며, 덕은 이들에서 파생되었다는 주장이며, 둘째, 덕이 윤리학 내에서 중심자리를 차지해야 하며, 규칙의 권위와 기능은 오직 덕을 통해 이해되어야 한다는 주장이다. 덕 윤리에 소극적 기능만을 유지하는 입장이든, 적극적인 기능을 인정하여 덕 윤리만으로 윤리 영역 전체를 해명할 수 있다고 보는 입장이든, 무엇이 덕이며, 이러한 덕이 어떤 특징을 가지고 있는지에 대한 분명한 해명이 있어야만 한다. 덕 윤리의 온전성을 강조하는 입장에서는, 윤리적인 덕의 주된 특징이 무엇인지에 관한 해명이 있어야 하며, 의무 윤리를 핵심적인 축으로 삼고, 덕 윤리를 보조적인 입장으로 받아들이려는 입장은 의무나 책무 개념과 잘 부합할 수 있는 덕 개념을 확립할 필요가 있다. 그리고 이 덕 개념이 의무나 책무의 윤리 이론 내에서 잘 작동할 것이라는 해명이 필요하다. 본 논의에서는 이러한 일환으로 덕 개념에 대해 분석하고 해명하려고 시도할 것이다. 이러한 시도를 위해 덕 개념에 대한 입장을 세분하여 의무론적 관점, 결과론적 관점, 목적론적 관점, 또는 상식적 관점으로 나누어서 살펴보았다.
Abstract
For more complete form of virtue ethics, definitions and explains about the virtue should be made of enough and obviously. Until now, discourses about virtue in ethics be made of two type. First type, duty rule is a primary conception, from which virtue conception be derived. Second type, virtue conception should take central position in ethics and position and function of moral rule should be understood through virtue conception. If we hope to have a virtue ethics which we can understand as the obvious, we should have a concept of virtue which, on one hand, in point of view on pure virtue ethics, can explain what is the characteristic of virtue and, on other hand, in point of view on duty ethics, is consistent with the conception of duty and obligation. So I tried to analyze the conception of virtue and here this thesis is discussed on four type, "the perspective of duty ethics." the perspective of consequentialism, the perspective of Teleology, the perspective of common sense morality.
