이 논문은 덕 윤리의 특성과 도덕 교육의 덕의 관점의 상관성을 해명하려는 의도에서 구성되었다. 이런 해명을 위하여 2장에서 도덕 교육의 덕의 관점이 덕 윤리에 기초해야 한다는 것을 논의하고, 그렇게 형성된 도덕 교육의 덕의 관점이 가지는 고유한 또는 본질적 특성을 세 가지 측면에서 논의하였다. 1) 아레테적 평가 개념 사용, 2) 도덕적 평가로서 성품의 우선성, 그리고 3) 도덕 교육 영역에 대한 덕의 관점의 포괄 범위에 집중하여 논의하였다. 그리고 3장에서 모든 유형의 덕 윤리가 승인하는 덕 윤리의 특성을 설명하고, 각각의 특성에 상응하는 도덕 교육의 덕의 관점의 특성을 간략히 살펴보았다. 이장의 논의는 도덕 교육의 덕의 관점이 ‘성품 공리주의’와 유사할 수 있다는 주장을 의식하면서 이루어졌다.
Abstract
This paper aims to clarify the characteristics of virtue ethics and their correlation with the virtue approach to moral education. Chapter 2 argues that the virtue approach to moral education should be based on virtue ethics and examines its unique or essential characteristics from three aspects: 1) the use of aretaic evaluation, 2) the priority of character in moral evaluation, and 3) the comprehensive scope of the virtue approach within the domain of moral education. Chapter 3 explains five characteristics of virtue ethics endorsed by all types of virtue ethics and examines the corresponding characteristics of the virtue approach to moral education. This chapter's discussion acknowledges the argument that the virtue approach to moral education may be similar to 'trait utilitarianism‘.
