Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate reading fluency of multicultural family children in terms of automaticity, accuracy, and prosody. According to the results, there were meaningful differences in automaticity and accuracy that three multicultural family children have achieved for the last nine months. Only one of three children reached to a national norm in the automaticity and accuracy of reading fluency. The other two children were below average. In terms of accuracy, there were not meaningful differences among those children. All of them reached to a independent level. Out of many reasons, literacy activity at home such as read-aloud to children, the amount of time children spent reading in and out of home independently, and the quality of instruction may be important variables to explain those gaps in reading fluency development of multicultural children.
