초록
About what Korean residents in Japan understand the actual in 1980's and the early 1990's, the paper centers around Lee Yang Jee's three works, "Gak", "Yoo-Hee" and "the sound of stone". Naturalized as a Japanese when she was 9 years old, in spite of passing her early days without realizing that she is Korean, it can be said that Lee Yang Jee who tried recovering national identity, being conscious of the national identity since her juvenile days, is the person who represent residents in Japan of the second or the third generation. Her works also reflect naturalized citizen's lives well, however, they center on the process of searching for the national identity, conflict of the identity and a critical mind about a possibility of the new identity. Most of the second generation thoroughly use Japanese only at home as their parents tried to hide the fact that they are Korean in Japanese society. Finally they can't live in the Korean language, and the population that has never learned Korean is 20.9%. Avoiding using Korean of residents in Japan is directly related to the problem of discriminating Chosen people after the Japanese colony and liberation. And it also reflect a degree of their awareness about a social community. Lee Soon, a heroine in "Gak", is a resident in Japan who can play the "Gayageum" and dance salpuri, and is a studying-abroad student of the Foreign Residents' National Education Center who came to her homeland in order to use Korean fluently. The problem of residents in Japan get into shape according to the stream of Lee Soon's consciousness. In spite of feeling left out of the group and the culture difference, the speaker's feeling trying to love Korea is symbolized as her blood-soaked menstrual period. As a speaker in the work, "Yoo-Hee" is set up as 'I' in Korea, and the speaker talks about Yoo-Hee, a studying-abroad student who is a resident in Japan. Yoo-Hee puts herself in a critical place about Korea and Korean, preferably she identifies her Japanese identity in Korea and then finds that she cannot deny it. At "Sound of stone", a speaker in the work is set up as a man, Lim Joo-il. The writer's intent to consider a problem of residents in Japan more objectively got more intensified, following "Gak" and "Yoo-Hee". Lim Joo-il calls himself 'Le sentiment X', and this name involves the third identity which a person having answered "yes" both for a national identity and a Japanese identity can gain. For it, it is also necessary to escape from the obsession that a poem written in Japanese is hung by Lim Joo-il. It will be exactly a foundation stone toward advancing lives of residents in Japan as people in boundary to a cosmopolitan to rise above a nation after the thorough pursuit of it and to realize that the Korean language, a national one is on the center of a nation. It will be also possible for a large number of races to reside as a community in a nation or a boundary not by the loss of nationality but by the coexistence of it.
