Abstract

One of the areas that has been most shocked by the emergence of ChatGPT is education, and perhaps the most disruptive of these areas is the teaching of writing. Since writing is the most basic learning tool in all areas of education, and an object to measure learners' knowledge and ability to learn, the emergence of ChatGPT can act as a starting point that requires a fundamental change in the paradigm of education. There are not a few challenges that arise if education does not respond effectively to the rapidly changing literacy environment and the learners who are rapidly adopting it. However, it is clear that if we do not actively respond to the rapid changes in the literacy environment due to technological development, there is a high probability that education will not be able to smoothly fulfil its original role. Some of the teachers involved in the teaching of writing liken the solution offered by ChatGPT to the effort and time that must be invested in mastering the basics of writing to the invention of the calculator, which frees them from numerous divisions. They say that ChatGPT makes it impossible for some teachers to respond to handwriting or handing in assignments in class, a style of teaching that aims to provide students with basic writing skills that most students do not achieve beyond a certain level of effort over a long period of time. Ask yourself if it's worth it. A student in New Zealand who feels it is unfair that he is not getting a good grade in his assessment because of his lack of writing skills, even though he has studied hard and has relevant knowledge and experience, advocates the use of ChatGPT. His position advocating the use of ChatGPT is linked to the logic that writing skills cannot be a measure of a learner's thinking or problem-solving ability, and furthermore that spending too much time and effort on acquiring basic writing skills is not productive. As generative artificial intelligence becomes available for everyday use, there is a strong possibility that the way questions are asked, the ability to ask questions, will become a measure of problem-solving ability and a new area of insight and creativity. The common denominator of those who are most pessimistic about the emergence of generative AI is that they see AI as completely replacing the role of humans. However, generative AI cannot replace humans, and it is highly likely that it will establish itself as a collaborator with humans. Humans provide creative prompts to generative AI, which effectively processes them and presents possible options. The sandwich workflow, in which humans re-select options, edit them and add desired parts to complete them, proves that creative ability is a human-only skill. Generative AI only serves to provide a starting point that can be modified. Therefore, which part to modify and in which direction to make the modification are keywords that can optimise the product, and such keyword generation is a skill that only humans can perform.
