본 연구는 생성형 인공지능 시대의 학술적 글쓰기 교육이 그 본연의 의미를 보존하는 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 생성형 인공지능 활용과 관련한 학술적 글쓰기의 교육 원칙이 수립되어야 하며, 특히 ‘과정과 결과 융합에 기초한 학술적 글쓰기 평가’를 핵심 원칙으로 주장한다. 생성형 인공지능 기술은 학술적 글쓰기 과정에 개입하고 있으며 그 영향력을 확대하고 있다. 하지만 생성형 인공지능의 활용은 자칫 위탁이라는 형태로 글쓰기의 과정과 결과를 분리하는 상황을 초래할 수 있다. 이때 학술적 글쓰기를 통해 학습자가 갖추게 될 역량은 충분히 함양되지 못한다. 학술적 글쓰기는 그 자체로 학습양식이며, 학생들은 이 학습 과정의 주체적 수행을 통해 사고의 재구조화를 경험함으로써 한 편으로는 사고 능력의 향상을 다른 한 편으로는 표현 능력의 향상을 이루게 된다. 그러나 생성형 인공지능에 대한 글쓰기의 위탁은 이 경험을 축소함으로써 주체로의 성장 기회 박탈 및 과정 없는 결과의 수용으로 귀결된다. 이로써 학술적 글쓰기는 사고와 표현의 통합이라는 본래의 목적을 상실하게 된다. 그렇지만 동시에 이 시대의 학술적 글쓰기는 생성형 인공지능과 무관할 수도 없다. 따라서 생성형 인공지능의 활용하면서도 학술적 글쓰기 및 그 교육의 의미를 보존하는 방안을 모색해야 한다. 이를 위해 네 가지 원칙의 수립이 필요하며, 이 중 ‘과정과 결과 융합에 기초한 학술적 글쓰기 평가’는 핵심적 원칙이다.
Abstract
This study aims to explore how academic writing education can maintain its intrinsic meaning in the era of Generative AI. Consequently, this paper argues that it is essential to establish principles for using Generative AI in academic writing. The primary principle proposed is the ‘evaluation of academic writing based on the harmony between process and result.’ Generative AI has intervened in academic writing, significantly amplifying its impact. However, utilizing it without careful consideration may lead to a separation between the process and the result. In such cases, students may miss out on developing essential competencies. Academic writing serves as a mode of learning, allowing students to enhance their thinking and expressive abilities by actively participating in the process of reconstructing their thoughts as agents. So relying on Generative AI for writing may deprive students of these valuable experiences. Consequently, students may fail to grow as active participants in their learning process, and academic writing may lose its primary purpose of integrating thought and expression. Therefore, it is crucial to identify methods that preserve the meaning of academic writing and its educational value in the context of writing with Generative AI. To address this, four principles need to be established, with the evaluation of academic writing based on the harmony between process and result being the central principle among them.
