율곡의 선(善) 실천 지향 위학론(爲學論)의 체계와 특성

Abstract

This article recognizes that Yulgok's theory of confucian learning aims to the practice of goodness. From this perspective, we examine the system and characteristics of his confucian learning theory. This paper elucidates the system of Yulgok's confucian learning theory and discusses its characteristics, focusing on the purpose of the practice of goodness. As a result of study, we have drawn the following results ; The first, Yulgok emphasizes the importance of studying the confucian discipline so that one can develop the truthful sincerity understanding and the knowledge of truthfulness that is fully consistent with the practice of goodness. The second, Yulgok present the cores of efforts such as intention for the practice of goodness, changing temperament, sincerity of intention, and conduct of benevolence. The third, in particular, Yulgok recognizes the problem of imperfection in the practice of goodness, even with the study of moral knowledge and behavior, so emphasizes the need to cultivate the practical mind that drives moral action. Yulgok's position that even if we have moral knowledge, we cannot practice it if we do not have practical mind is an important characteristic of his theory of confucian learning.
