Abstract

This these design to study the thoughts what Yulgok takes the issue on driving forces of moral practice and sincere mind[實心]. The driving forces of moral practice have very important meaning in ensuring the integrity and completeness of moral behavior in terms of operating and leading to practical morality. According to the purpose on analysis to the forces of moral practice and the sincere mind, we found the essential points of discussion as follows ; The first, the intellectual driving force of moral practice is discussed on thinking of moral principles[窮理] and truthful knowledge[眞知]. The second, the expressive driving forces of moral practice are searched for its characteristics of emotion, intention, and volition which expressed by the mind. The third, the subjective driving force for moral practice is illuminated by the discussion focused on the sincere mind which Yulgok emphasized manifestly. The fourth, cautious convergence(敬) is discussed the context which become a key method to form and strengthen sincere mind. The sincere mind can operate the intellectual power of moral practice and the emotion, intention, and volition which expressed by the mind strongly and actively. Through this study, we confirm that Yulgok granted a very important status to the sincere mind, therefore his ethical position in approaching the problem of moral practice can be defined as the ethical thoughts of sincere mind.
