This study is intended to discuss a necessary of compilation of the productiveitems in Korean language and to suggest a methodology of compilation using alanguage database. That is, this study is focused on a practical goal of thedictionary compilation. The productive items of Korean language dictionary meanthe items of reinforcing the collocational information. Generally, a vocabularydefined in dictionary is divided into decoding word and encoding word accordingto purpose of language use. Considering it, the items of dictionary can be classifiedinto the part of considering the understanding activity and the part of strengtheningthe productive activity. The productive items intensively collect such productivestrengthening items, and is expanded from the existing collocational items. Especially, the existing domestic and foreign collocation dictionary is mainly forforeign learners, but the dictionary in this study is for native speakers. This study,in order to develop the productive items in Korean language, is focused on how thecollocational information database based on the preceding collocation studies andcorpus will be utilized. It is very important, and the compilation of productiveitems using the collocational information database is to verify a tendency of usingthe productive skills through large capacity corpus. This study is composed asfollows. Chapter 2 describes preceding studies about productive items withcollocation in order to discuss the productive dictionary in Korean language, and is intended to review the existing collocation dictionary. In Chapter 3, theconstruction method of collocational information database extracted for theproductive dictionary compilation and a compiler’s analysis method are discussed. In the last Chapter 4, productive patterns for an active formation of productivedictionary are summarized (Chapter 4.1) and the practical problem of editing isdiscussed(Chapter 4.2).
