본 연구는 한국어 학습자의 문해력 향상을 위한 수준별 리딩북 개발을 목적으로 한다. 문해력은 학습자들이 읽고 이해하는 능력뿐만 아니라, 이를 바탕으로 비판적 사고를 할 수 있는 중요한 언어 능력의 기본 요소이다. 그러나 한국어 학습자들의 문해력을 효과적으로 키워줄 읽기 교육 자료가 부족하고, 기존의 읽기 교재들이 학습자 개개인의 요구를 충분히 반영하지 못하는 상황에서, 학습자의 수준 차이를 고려한 리딩북 개발이 절실히 필요하다. 이번 연구에서는 다양한 학습자의 언어 능력에 따른 맞춤형 교육이 가능하도록 적절한 난이도를 적용한 리딩북을 개발한다. 읽기 교육과 관련된 이론과 선행 연구를 토대로, 한국어 등급별 어휘와 문법을 반영하고 국제통용표준교육과정을 근거로 주제, 장르, 텍스트 길이를 설정하여 리딩북을 개발하였다. 문학과 비문학을 균형 있게 구성하고, 각 수준에 맞게 텍스트를 개작하였다. 또한, 학습 후 내용 이해 정도를 측정할 수 있는 성취도 평가를 제공하고, 평가 결과에 따라 다음 단계의 리딩북을 추천하는 시스템도 추가해 개별 학습자들이 더 효과적으로 문해력을 향상할 수 있도록 하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to develop level-based reading books to enhance the literacy of Korean language learners. Literacy is a crucial component of language proficiency, serving as the foundation for learners’reading comprehension and critical thinking abilities. However, there is a lack of reading educational materials that effectively improve the literacy of Korean learners, and existing reading textbooks do not adequately meet the individual needs of learners. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop reading books that consider the differences in learners' proficiency levels. In this study, we aim to develop customized reading books that apply appropriate levels of difficulty based on the diverse language abilities of learners. Drawing on theories and previous research related to reading education, we will incorporate level-appropriate vocabulary and grammar in the development of the reading books, as well as set themes, genres, and text lengths. We will ensure a balanced selection of literary and non-literary texts, adapting the materials according to each proficiency level. Furthermore, we will provide achievement assessments to measure comprehension after reading, along with a system that recommends the next level of reading book based on the assessment results, enabling individual learners to enhance their literacy more effectively.
