Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze music generation and production platforms utilizing digital technology from the perspective of cultural diversity, and to explore their possibilities and limitations when applied to music education. The rapid development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the ways of performing, appreciating, and creating music, as well as to the overall environment of music education. However, when such changes occur without sufficient consideration of cultural diversity, issues such as the intensification of platform structures dominated by Western big tech companies and the reproduction of cultural bias may arise. To address this, the study selected representative AI-based platforms and DAW platforms, analyzed their content composition, functions, and generated outcomes, and discussed the findings from the perspective of cultural diversity within the context of music education. The analysis revealed that the platforms primarily offer popular music-oriented content and timbres, which limits their potential to reflect cultural diversity when applied directly to educational contexts. Therefore, it is necessary to incorporate considerations of cultural diversity into the data collection and algorithm design processes during platform development and updates, and users should actively advocate for these improvements. Furthermore, the platforms should evolve to strengthen user-driven functions that promote cultural diversity in the process of music creation. In addition, teachers need to maintain educational sensitivity toward cultural diversity when utilizing digital technology in their teaching practices.
