Abstract
The Nine Years' War (1594-1603) which took place in Ulster during Elizabethan period ended with England's victory and this made the leading aristocrats in Ulster flee to the Continent. James I (1603-1625) who succeeded Elizabeth Ⅰ(1558-1603) immigrated English and Scottish Protestants into the land of the Catholic earls. This was called as the Ulster Plantation. This research aims to examine the religious policy of James I, and the reaction of Ulster Catholics to it.
