본고는 영화 『동주』를 대상으로 윤동주의 시인의 탄생의 의미를 고찰하고 있다. 영화 『동주』는 시인 윤동주의 생애를 단순히 재현하는 영화가 아니다. 영화 『동주』는 한 평범한 문학청년에 불과했던 윤동주가 각별한 문학적 자의식을 지닌 시인으로 탄생하는 과정과 계기를 재현하는 영화라는 게 본고의 문제의식이다. 영화 『동주』는 영상 언어로 서술된 윤동주의 문학적 평전으로 손색이 없다. 필자는 본고에서 논의를 명동촌에서의 윤동주, 경성에서의 윤동주, 도쿄/교토에서의 윤동주 등 세 범주로 나누어 전개했다. 영화 『동주』에서 명동촌, 경성, 도쿄/쿄토는 그 분위기가 이질적인 장소들이며 더욱이나 그 배경적 의미 또한 남다르다. 그런데 필자는 본고에서 이 장소의 경계를 오가면서 윤동주가 지니게 된 문학적 자의식의 정체를 주목하고 있다. 명동촌에서의 윤동주는 사촌형 송몽규의 문학적 재능을 부러워하는 문학 청년으로 재현된다. 그런데 윤동주는 경성에서 송몽규의 문학적 재능을 부러워하는 문학 청년에서 조선어 시인으로 불리기를 기대한 자신을 부끄럽게 여기는 문학 청년으로 변모한다. 그리고 윤동주는 도쿄/교토에서 자신을 더는 숨을 곳이 없는 조선학생으로 간주하면서 자신과 자신의 문학에 대해 심히 부끄러워한다. 윤동주가 평범한 문학청년에서 시인으로 탄생했다는 것은 윤동주가 조선문단이 승인하는 문인으로 등단했다거나 어떤 문인으로부터 추천되었다는 것을 뜻 하지 않는다. 본고는 윤동주의 시인의 탄생의 의미를 부끄러움이라는 문학적 자의식으로 시를 쓰고 읽는 그 순간 드러나는 사건이자 현상으로 논의하고 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning of Yun Dong-ju a poet as an object of the movie 『Dongju』. The movie 『Dongju』 does not represent the poet Yun Dong-ju's lifetime. As for the movie 『Dongju』, there was consciousness of problems in this study in that the movie represented the process and momentum that Yun Dong-ju as the ordinary literary youth was born as a poet who had the special literary self-awareness. The movie 『Dongju』 stood comparison with Yun Dong-ju's literary critical biography which was described as screen language like film language. This researcher was to classify with three categories: Yun Dong-ju in Myeongdongchon, Yun Dong-ju in Gyeongseong, and Yun Dong-ju in Tokyo/Kyoto. The atmosphere in Myeongdongchon, Gyeongseong, and Tokyo/Kyoto in the movie 『Dongju』 was foreign places, and further its background meaning was quite different. However, this researcher focuses on the identity of literary self-awareness that Yun Dong-ju has, coming and going the boundaries of such places. Yun Dong-ju in Myeongdongchon was reproduced as literary youth who envies his older cousin Song Mong-gyu's literary talent. However, Yun Dong-ju in Gyeongseong was changed from the literary youth who envied Song Mong-gyu's literary talent to the literary youth who was ashamed of himself for whom he expected to be called as Korean poet. In addition, Yun Dong-ju in Tokyo/Kyoto was very ashamed of himself and his own literature, considering him as Chosun student that there was nowhere to hide. Yun Dong-ju's birth as a poet like ordinary literary youth does not mean that Yun Dong-ju started his literary career recognized by The Joseon Literary Circles, or that he was recommended as a certain literary person. The significance of the study can be found in that the poet Yun Dong-ju demonstrated that it was event and phenomenon which was revealed as literary self-awareness like shame by writing and reading a poem accordingly.
