본 연구는 대학 교양교육에서 활용도가 높은 세계문학 텍스트 읽기를 기반으로 논제 중심의 문학 논술 방법론을 적용하여 문학은 물론 글쓰기 교육의 발전방향을 찾는 것을 목표로 한다. 문학 텍스트를 활용한 논제 중심의 논술 교육과 쓰기 실습을 병행하는 교과를 개발⋅운영하면서 프랑스 바칼로레아 문학 논술을 방법론으로 도입하였다. ‘책 읽기’와 ‘글쓰기’ 교육이 하나로 이루어져야 성과를 낼 수 있는 ‘논제 중심 문학 논술’ 방법론의 도입과 적용은 ‘읽기 기반의 쓰기 교육’이라는 점에서 우리의 글쓰기 교육을 개선하는 데 상당한 효과를 낼 것으로 기대한다. 글쓰기와 문학이 합쳐진 교육은 현재의 교양교육에서 글쓰기 교과의 읽기 부족 문제와 문학교육에서 교수자 중심의 이론 수업의 한계를 극복하는 데 도움을 줄 것이다. 문학 논술은 단순히 글쓰기나 논증 차원에 머물러서는 안 되며 비평을 포함한 문학 내부의 문제를 충분히 수용하고, 사회 문화적인 맥락과 연계하여 확장될 수 있어야 한다. 본 문학 교실도 읽기와 쓰기 교육을 동시에 실천하고 두 가지 영역 모두에서 성과를 내려는 목표를 가지고 있으므로 ‘읽기 기반의 쓰기 교육’으로 이루어진 바칼로레아 문학 논술 방법론을 적용하면 상당한 성과를 낼 것으로 기대한다. 글쓰기 교육의 효과는 책 읽기가 전제되어야 한다는 원칙에 공감한다면 읽기와 쓰기가 동시에 이루어지는 문학 논술은 타당한 교육 방법론이 될 것이다.
Abstract
This study aims to explore the future direction of literature and writing education by applying a thesis-centered literary essay methodology based on reading world literature texts, which are widely used in university liberal arts education. We developed and implemented a curriculum that combines thesis-centered essay instruction using literary texts with writing practice, incorporating the French baccalauréat literary essay as a methodology. The introduction and application of the thesis-centered literary essay methodology, which emphasizes reading and writing, is expected to significantly improve our writing education, as it emphasizes reading-based writing instruction. This literature classroom aims to simultaneously implement reading and writing instruction and achieve results in both areas. Therefore, applying the baccalauréat literary essay methodology, which incorporates reading-based writing instruction, is expected to yield significant results.
