초록
This study examined the process of discussion between Japanese native speakers and Korean students of Japanese. After analyzing the conversations of four pairings, it was determined that each pair's conversations present distinct processes. There were instances in which the learner relied on the native speaker to guide the discussion. In this instance, the results of previous investigations on contact situation were replicated. In another type of instances, the student lead the discussion. It appeared that the learner's opinion was approved without a counterpoint being presented. Some native speakers concurred with the opinions of the students and actively advanced discussions. At this juncture, it can be said that the native speaker's efforts to advance the discussion are motivated by considerateness. In some other instances, discussion ended without the exchange of opinions. This was the result of their failure to assert each other's opinions, which prevented the discussion from progressing. In the future, we will analyze the process of discourses in different contexts and apply the research findings to the teaching of Japanese conversation.
