본 연구는 메타버스(Metaverse)와 생성형 인공지능(Generative AI)을 융합한 일본어 상호문화 교수·학습 프로그램을 설계하고, 그 교육적 타당성을 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. Byram(1997)의 상호문화역량(ICC) 모형을 기반으로 한 6차시 프로그램을 대학 일본어 학습자 29명을 대상으로 실시하였다. 양적 분석 결과, 학습자의 ICC가 모든 하위 영역에서 유의미하게 향상되었으며, 질적 분석을 통해 몰입적 상호작용, 문화적 성찰, 표현 전략의 확장, 자기주도적 학습 강화 등의 변화를 확인하였다. 본 연구는 AI와 메타버스의 결합이 일본어교육을 언어 중심에서 문화 공존 중심으로 확장하는 가능성을 보여준다.
Abstract
This study aimed to design and validate a Japanese intercultural teaching–learning program integrating the Metaverse and Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). Based on Byram’s (1997) Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC) model, a six-session program was implemented with 29 university learners of Japanese. Quantitative results showed significant improvements across all ICC subdomains, while qualitative findings revealed enhanced immersive interaction, cultural reflection, pragmatic expression strategies, and learner autonomy. The integration of AI and Metaverse technologies demonstrated the potential to transform Japanese language education from a linguistic focus toward a culturally coexistent paradigm.
