Abstract
This study examines the origins of Konronhassen(崑崙八仙), a dance of the Komagaku tradition in Japanese court performance. The immortal motif in Konronhassen shows symbolic parallels with the Saseon(四仙) of Silla, transcendent figures who pursued Pungnyu through dance, poetry, go, and tea, embodying detachment from the secular world. The circular and green costume patterns of Konronhassen may be interpreted as references to go stones and tea culture, thus embedding elements of an immortal realm within the costume design. Seen in this light, the origins of Konronhassen can be contextualized within a Korean immortality culture where cranes, immortals, go, and tea coexist. Its symbolic correspondence with the Saseon of Silla offers significant insights for the study of Japanese Komagaku.
