Abstract
This study examined the mediating effect of offline social support and the moderated mediation effect of online social support in the relationship between college students' cyberbullying victimization experience and basic psychological needs. To this end, data were collected and analyzed from 562 college students aged 20-24, measuring Cyberbullying Victimization experience, Basic Psychological Needs, Offline Social Support, and Online Social Support(esteem/emotional, social companionship, informational, instrumental). The results showed that, first, offline social support partially mediated the relationship between cyberbullying victimization experience and basic psychological needs. Second, among online social support types, informational support significantly moderated the relationship between cyberbullying victimization experience and offline social support. Third, the moderated mediation effect of online informational support through offline social support was confirmed in the relationship between cyberbullying victimization experience and basic psychological needs. These results suggest that the negative impact of cyberbullying victimization experience on basic psychological needs through offline social support for college students in their early 20s varies depending on the level of online informational support. Based on these findings, this study discussed the necessity of education on cyberbullying prevention and coping in online spaces, the need for social skills education to increase social support and fulfill basic psychological needs, and the importance of developing the ability to discern beneficial information and interpret and select information with a critical perspective in counseling and educational settings for college students' development.
