본 논문은 코로나 팬데믹과 ‘특수군사작전’을 거치면서 러시아 대중음악에 나타나는 문화정체성을 살펴보았다. 최근 들어 러시아의 대중음악계에는 소수민족의 음악들이 인기를 누리고 있으며 자국 문화에관한 관심이 높아지면서 민속 전통이 대중음악의 전면에 드러나기도 한다. 먼저는 세계적인 열풍을 이끄는<시그마 보이>의 인기와 그 반향, 그리고 국제관계 속에 이 노래가 새로운 의미를 획득하는 과정을 살폈다. 두 번째로는 레트로 열풍 속에 청년세대를 중심으로 일어나는 러시아 전통에 관한 관심과 민속 모티브, 그리고 민족문화가 반영되고 있는 현상을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로는 대중음악에 나타난 광기와 일탈을통해 스코모로흐 전통과의 연결을 알아보고 ‘말’과 ‘감정’으로 이어지는 공감의 문화 코드를 살펴보았다. 외적으로는 서구 음악과 유사한 경향들과 리듬, 장르들을 보이는 듯하지만, 러시아 음악은 태생적으로내면의 목소리에 귀 기울이고 성찰하며 말의 의미에 초점을 맞추고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리하여러시아 대중음악이 고유의 독자성과 문화정체성을 갖고 있음을 밝혔다.
Abstract
This paper examines the cultural identity emerging in Russian popular music during the COVID-19 pandemic and “Special military operations.” Recently, music from ethnic minorities is enjoying popularity in Russia’s popular music scene, and with growing interest in national culture, folk traditions are also emerging at the forefront of popular music. First, we examine the global popularity and resonance of the song Sigma Boy, and how it has acquired new meaning within international relations. Second, we examine the growing interest in Russian traditions, folk motifs, and national culture among the younger generation amidst the retro craze. Finally, we explored the connection between the ‘skomorokh’ tradition and the madness and deviance expressed in popular music, examining the cultural code of empathy that connects ‘Word’ and ‘Emotion’. While Russian music may appear to share trends, rhythms, and genres with Western music, we find that it inherently focuses on inner voices, reflection, and the meaning of words. Thus, we demonstrate that Russian popular music possesses a unique identity and cultural identity.
