많은 비판적 사고 정의는 비판적 사고의 기술에만 초점을 맞춘다. 그러다 보니 비판적 사고의 기술은 가지고 있지만 비판적 사고의 성향이나 태도는 가지고 있지 못한 사람들이 생기게 된다. 그들은 비판적 사고의 기술은 가지고 있어도 그 기술을 실제 상황에서 활용하지 못한다. 이 글에서는 비판적 사고의 기술과 성향을 구분해야 하고 비판적 사고는 기술뿐만 아니라 성향까지 갖추고 있어야 한다고 주장하는 학자들의 의견을 검토해 보아, 비판적 사고의 기술과 성향은 구분되고 비판적 사고의 성향을 꼭 필요함을 주장한다. 그러기 위해서 에니스, 폴, 시걸의 비판적 사고 개념들에서 비판적 사고의 기술과 성향이 각각 어떻게 강조되고 있는가 살펴본다. 그리고 그런 주장에서 그치는 것이 아니라 실제로 비판적 사고의 성향을 구현할 수 있는 교육 방법을 소개한다.
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to examine the suggestion that the skill of critical thinking is not sufficient for critical thinker. It is claimed that the disposition or attitude of critical thinking is needed to actualize the critical thinking skill. The concepts of critical thinking proposed by Ennis, Paul and Siegel are considered. This paper also introduces how to implement the disposition of critical thinking in school classes.
