본 연구는 학문 목적 유학생을 대상으로 발표 수업 전후 수행 역량에 대한 인식 변화를 검증하고, 교수자의 수업 운영 및 학습자의 문화적 배경 인식이 발표 효과에 미치는 영향을 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구 참여자는 서울 소재 A 대학 학부 유학생 29명으로, 1학기 동안 발표 수업에 참여하였으며 사전·사후 설문조사와 상관관계 분석을 통해 자료를 수집·분석하였다. 분석 결과, 어휘와 문법의 정확성, 목소리 크기, 손동작 등 언어적·준언어적·비언어적 요소에 대한 인식이 수업 후 유의미하게 향상되었고, 교수자의 평가 기준 제시와 체계적 피드백은 발표 능력 향상과 자신감 고양에 핵심적인 요인으로 확인되었다. 반면, 발표 구성 요소와 시간 관리에 대한 인식은 수업 전후 큰 차이는 없었으나, 일관되게 높은 중요성을 보였다. 문화적 요인의 경우 평균적으로 낮게 인식되었으나, 이를 자각한 학습자일수록 수업 효과를 긍정적으로 평가하는 경향을 보여 발표 교육에서 문화적 배경을 강점으로 전환할 수 있는 교수 전략이 필요함을 시사한다. 이러한 결과는 학문 목적 한국어 교육에서 발표 수업이 단순한 언어 기능 훈련을 넘어 학습자의 학문적 의사소통 역량을 함양하는 핵심 교육 영역임을 보여주며, 교수자의 체계적 지원과 문화적 특성을 반영한 교육 설계의 중요성을 강조한다.
Abstract
This study examined changes in the perceptions of international undergraduate students regarding presentation performance before and after a Korean for Academic Purposes (KAP) course, with focus on the roles of instructor support and cultural background. Twenty-nine students participated in a semester-long course, and the data were collected through pre- and post-course surveys and correlation analysis. The results showed significant improvement in students’ awareness of linguistic, paralinguistic, and non-verbal elements, especially in vocabulary and grammatical accuracy, voice projection, and gestures. It is assumed that the evaluation criteria and feedback provided by instructors were key factors in enhancing the participants’ performance and confidence. While organizing presentations and managing time were given the same importance regardless of the course, cultural factors were generally rated lower. However, students how had a higher awareness of the cultural factors tended to evaluate the course more positively. These findings suggest that the presentation training in KAP should combine structured feedback with strategies that help students use their cultural backgrounds as strengths, highlighting its importance for both academic communication and intercultural competence.
