Abstract
article is to figure out what implications the American involvement has for the military operations against Abu Sayyaf, after logically to be proven four hypotheses - firstly, Abu Sayyaf is a brutal terrorist group enough to be a target of Philippine-American anti-terrorism cooperation; secondly, Abu Sayyaf is historically connected with MILF/MNLF as a militant Moro group; thirdly, Abu Sayyaf is believed to have a link with the Al-Qaeda of Osama bin Laden; and fourthly, the Philippines consolidates a cooperative structure with the United States to sweep the Abu Sayyaf - to find the correct answers to the three questions - firstly, what sort of terrorist group is the Abu Sayyaf to be a target of Philippine-American anti-terrorism cooperation?; what is the fundamental reasons to be a target of Philippine-American anti-terrorism cooperation?; and, what is the basis of the fundamental reasons? - with the analytical framework of Figure 1(see the main contents). Therefore, the researcher is concretely presenting the implications of American involvement in the Chapter Ⅳ. In particular, it is noticeable that although the tactics capability of Abu Sayyaf is mostly exhausted by the joint military operation through Philippine-American anti-terrorism cooperation the terror is still intermittently generated. In this regard, the Philippines will sustainedly have a demand upon the United States for a flank aid to mop up the remnants of the Abu Sayyaf for the time being.【Key Words】 Moro, Terrorism, Anti-terrorism, Abu Sayyaf, Al-Qaeda, MILF, MNLF
