Abstract
In this paper, we analyze Sonic Pi course of the UK code club with the aim of exploring music coding education which is attracting worldwide attention. As a result of the study, the characteristics of the Sonic Pi course are as follows. First, students are taught musical education elements such as syllable names, pitch names, rhythm, sound exploration and musical form, and learn music appreciation, composition and improvisation in the process of performing one project. Second, students can simultaneously learn software elements and design algorithm - the design of algorithms by learning the elements of software education such as sequential and iteration, random, function, concurrency, and creating music by coding. In addition, the ability to use ICT such as recording, storing, and opening can also be enhanced. Third, practical and experiential learning is possible through understanding of concepts through practice rather than theory - based instruction. Comprehensively, music coding education provides the following suggestions to the educational field in Korea. First, it is appropriate to apply it as a convergence subject. Second, it can carry out activity - centered experiential education. Third, it can cultivate ability of creative thinking.
