슘페터는 20세기의 가장 위대한 경제학자 중 한 사람이었다. 그는 경제이론, 통계학, 역사학에 정통했을 뿐만 아니라 경제학설에 대해 해박한 지식을 가지고 있었다. 한국에서도 슘페터에 비교할 만한 경제학자 김준보가 있다. 그는 농업경제학을 주 전공으로 하면서도, 통계학, 경제이론, 경제사에 정통한 경제학자였다. 그는 경제이론이 역사분석으로 전환될 수 있음을 알았고, 그것을 체계적으로 설명한 제일급의 경제학자였다. 슘페터와 김준보의 경제과학은 개념, 방법, 접근에서맑스에게 상당히 의존한 것이었다.
Abstract
Joseph A. Schumpeter was one of the greatest economists of the 20th century. He emphasized that an economist is not properly qualified unless he is at once a thorough theorist, a skillful statistician, and, above all, a historian. Schumpeter possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of economic thought. In Korea, Kim Jun-bo was an eminent economist comparable to Schumpeter. Although his primary field was agricultural economics, he also had a profound command of statistics, economic theory, and economic history. Most importantly, he was the first top-rank economist to recognize and systematically explain how economic theory could be transformed into historical analysis. The conception, method, and approach to economic science in both Schumpeter and Kim Jun-bo owed much to Karl Marx.
