Abstract

The purpose of this study is to incorporate augmented reality(AR) technology within a narrative-based drama education program for elementary students to explore the potential for AR in drama education. The ten-session program is based on Jack and the Beanstalk with six lower-grade students in inclusive classrooms as the main participants. In each session, AR technologies such as AR objects, image tracking, and real-time visual synthesis were integrated organically into the drama activities. The findings indicate that AR functioned as an effective medium for stimulating students’ senses, enhancing immersion, and promoting self-expression along with emotional exploration. In particular, students who had difficulties expressing themselves verbally were able to actively participate in self-expression and role performance through visual media and physical movement. These results suggest that the integration of drama education with AR technology can foster a creative and immersive learning environment in inclusive education settings.
