이 글의 목적은 한강의 소설을 실마리로 삼아 현대 허무주의의 근본원인과 전개 과정을 조망하고 그것을 극복할 수 있는 미학적 방안을 성찰해 보는 데 있다. 허무주의 극복을 위한 몇몇 해법이 존재하지만, 우리는 하이데거(그의 영향권 아래 있는 드레이퍼스와 켈리)의 미학적 해법에 주목한다. 그렇다고 단순히 하이데거 철학을 소개하거나 추종하는 것에 머물지는 않을 것이다. 하이데거를 비롯한 여러 철학자들의 통찰을 풍부하게 해석함으로써 해법의 구체성과 확장성을 확보할 것이다. 그리고 드레이퍼스와 켈리가 제시했던 허무주의 관련 주요 개념들을 면밀히 주석함으로써, 그들의 미학적 해법의 설득력을 가늠하고자 한다. 부가적으로 이 연구 결과를 가지고 한강 작품의 한 가지 해석 방향을 제시할 예정이다. 이 글은 허무주의 해법의 키워드로서 드레이퍼스와 켈리가 제안했던 ‘다신주의’와 ‘성스러움’ 그리고 ‘메타-포이에시스’ 등을 간단히 소개할 것이다. 이런 개념들의 바탕에는 니체와 하이데거의 미학이 놓여 있다. 두 철학자를 참조하면서 이 글은 앞선 개념들이 어떤 사유의 맥락 속에서 허무주의 극복의 대안으로 도출된 것인지를 밝힐 것이다. 마지막으로 그 개념들을 가지고서 허무주의 극복이 어느 정도 가능한지를 성찰하면서, 한강의 작품 특히 바람이 분다, 가라에 대한 한 가지 해석 방향을 제시할 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to examine the roots and development of contemporary nihilism and to reflect on aesthetic ways to overcome it, using Han Kang’s novel as a clue. Although there are several solutions to overcome nihilism, we will focus on the aesthetic solutions of Heidegger (and H. Dreyfus and S. D. Kelly under his influence), but we will not simply introduce or follow Heidegger’s philosophy. It will be a rich interpretation of the insights of Heidegger and other philosophers to flesh out and extend the overcoming of nihilism. Furthermore, through a careful exegesis of Dreyfus/Kelly’s key concepts related to nihilism, I will attempt to determine the persuasiveness of their aesthetic solutions. In addition, the results of this study will be used to suggest one interpretive direction for Han’s work. especially The Wind Blows, GoThis article will briefly introduce the concepts of polytheism, sacredness, and meta-poiesis proposed by Dreyfus and Kelly as key to the solution to nihilism. Underlying these concepts are the aesthetics of Nietzsche and Heidegger. Referring to these two philosophers, this article will reveal the context of thought in which these concepts were derived as alternatives to nihilism. Finally, it will reflect on the extent to which it is possible to overcome nihilism with these concepts and suggest one interpretive direction for Han’s works.
