日本語の外来語に現れる音韻的特性 －音節量とアクセントについて－

본고는 일본어 외래어에 나타나는 악센트의 특징을 설명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. Kubozono(1994, 2006)는 중음절 강세 제약(Weight-to-Stress Principle)이 일본어 외래어 악센트 부여에 있어 생산적인 제약이라고 주장하고 있다. 하지만 이 논의는 한정된 예시를 통한 일반화에서 도출된 것이기 때문에 문제의 소지가 있다고 할 수 있다. 본고는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 대규모 언어 자료의 조사를 통하여 이 제약의 생산성을 검증하였다. ‘NTT 데이터베이스 일본어의 어휘특성’의 외래어의 악센트를 조사한 결과 3638개의 외래어 악센트에서 중음절 강세 제약이 적용된 예는 2611개로 72%의 출현율을 보였다. 일본어 외래어는 여러 가지 요인에 의해 악센트가 부여되는데 중음절 강세 제약은 이러한 요인 중에서 상당한 생산성을 보이는 것으로 해석할 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper examines the accentuation pattern of loanword of Japanese. Kubozono (1994, 2006) argued that Weight-to-Stress Principle (WSP) is a productive constraint in loanword accentuation. His discussion, however, is based on a limited example, so it can be said that there is a problem. To solve this problem, I investigated the productivity of WSP constraints with a large language database. After investigating the word accents from NTT database series Nihongo-no Goitokusei (Lexical properties of Japanese), the author found that WSP is productive constraint with a high frequency of 72 percent from 3638 accent patterns.
