이 연구는 청소년 문학의 향유 맥락을 살피고 그 문학교육적 함의를 모색하는 데에 목적을 둔다. 문학교육의 목표가 교실을 넘어 소설 문화를 스스로 향유하는 평생 독자를 기르는 것이라면, 청소년 문학을 통한 독자층의 형성은 학교 안과 밖을 아우르는 중요한 문학 교육의 전제가 된다. 그러나 청소년 문학은 어른들이 바라는 청소년의 모습을 반영하여 계도의 관점으로 치우치거나 학습과 지나치게 긴밀하게 묶이면서 본래의 문학적 본질로부터 멀어지기도 하였다. 청소년이 당사자로서 자신의 목소리를 내며, 자신의 문제를 해결하는 문학을 향유할 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 청소년 문학 및 문학 교육의 새로운 변화가 요청된다. 무엇보다도 청소년을 계도하고 훈육해야 할 미완의 존재이자 어떻게든 포박하고 이 세계 내로 불러들여야 할 불온한 타자로 볼 것이 아니라 그 자체로 온전한 의미를 갖는 현재형의 주체로 존중하는 패러다임의 변화가 필요하다. 이는 문학 교육 전체의 판도를 바꾸는 것이며, 그보다 더 나아가 교육과 사회, 그리고 삶을 바라보는 관점을 전환하는 일이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the context of juvenile literature and explore its implications in literary education. The goal of literary education is to cultivate readers who enjoy the genre of the novel themselves. In this sense, juvenile literature can play a very important role in literary education. However, juvenile literature sometimes reflects the wishes of adults about youth, and is positively inclined toward enlightenment. Such literature is also too close to learning and moves away from the original literary essence. In order for youth to express their own voices and to enjoy Juvenile literature as their own genre, changes in juvenile literature and literature education are required. Above all, a change in the paradigm that respects youth as it is is demanded. This entails changing the whole landscape of literary education, and is also about shifting the common viewpoint of education, society, and life.
