한국어 교재 『Corean Primer』의 교육 내용 분석 - 어휘 양상과 사전 미등재어를 대상으로

본고는 『Corean Primer』에 사용된 어휘를 대상으로 국어사전 등재 여부에 따른 양상과 미등재 어휘의 의미를 파악하는 데 목적이 있다. 그 결과 『Corean Primer』에는 총 1,062개의 어휘가 나타나는데, 전체의 72.5% 이상인 770개가 <우리말샘>에 표준어(575개), 방언(134개), 옛말(48개), 북한어(7개), 비규범적 형태(6개)로 등재되어 있었다. 134개의 방언은 대체로 한반도 북부 지역에서 사용되는 것으로, 이는『Corean Primer』의 저자인 Ross의 주 활동지인 압록강 주변의 언어가 많이 반영되어 있음을 의미한다. 이러한 특징은 미등재어에서도 나타나는데, ‘홀로즈, 빙판, 조조상, 화눈션, 세련푼, 추판, 치쟈’ 등의 중국어 차용어의 사용은 국경 지대의 언어가 가지는 특성을 보여 준다. 『Corean Primer』에 사용된 어휘의 양상과 의미를 파악하고자 하는 본 연구는『Corean Primer』의 정확한 내용 이해뿐 아니라 한국어 어휘 확장에 기여할 것으로 예상된다.
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the vocabulary patterns in Corean Primer and to define the words not found in dictionaries. The study found that 1,062 words are usedin Corean Primer, and more than 72.5% of them were registered in Korean dictionaries. Of the registered words, 575 words were registered as standard, 134 as dialect, 48 as archaic words, 7 as North Korean, and 6 as non-normative form. Especially the 134 dialect words are generally spoken in the northern part of the Korea, meaning Corean Primer included many words from the area including the area around Amnok River. This is where the author Ross was based. The Chinese loanwords used in Corean Primer also reveal the characteristics of the language of the border region. This study, which analyzed the vocabulary patterns and meanings of words not found in dictionaries in Corean Primer, is expected to contribute to an accurate understanding of the book's contents and to expanding the Korean vocabulary.
