2020년 한국의 안보환경형성에 막강한 영향력을 부여할 수 있는 국가 중의 하나가 중국이다. 중국은 막강한 경제력을 바탕으로 아시아 지역의 패권국으로 부상하고 있으며, 2020년까지 이러한 추세는 지속될 것으로 보인다. 2020년 중국의 對한반도 정책을 분석해 볼 때, 중국은 여전히 한반도의 평화와 안정 유지에 기본적인 정책목표를 두고, 한반도의 비핵화를 위해 노력할 것으로 보인다. 또한 이를 실현하기 위하여 중국은 북한에 대한 경제적 영향력을 제고시키려고 노력할 것이다. 그러나 2020년 중국과 한국의 관계는 상호협력의 필요성이 증진되는 가운데 미묘한 갈등의 요소도 내포하고 있다. 중국은 자국의 국력 및 영향력이 증대됨에 따라 미국과의 경쟁적 태도를 보이기 시작할 가능성이 크다. 그러나 아직까지는 미국과의 전면적인 경쟁이 부담스러운 중국으로서는 미국과의 동맹관계에 있는 한국을 대상으로 미국과의 경쟁을 벌일 가능성이 있다. 그러나 중국은 자국의 강대국화에 한계에 직면하여 내부갈등문제 해결에 집중해야할 가능성이 높다.
Abstract
By dint of its growing economic might and diplomatic clout, China has high potential to become the most influential great power over the Korean peninsula in the year of 2020. Reviewing its potential policies, China may maintain its decades-long policies of pursuing peace and stability over the peninsula. It also prefers non-nuclear peninsula, for which China exerts to expand its economic influence over North Korea. In contrast to the close bilateral relations, China’s relations with the South may be volatile. As its power and influence grows, China reveals its intention to challenge against then existing power, the US. But since China would be still too weak to compete with the US in full-scale fashion, China may trigger small scale of confrontation with the US on Korea. As a result, even in the year of 2020, China still too premature to take over the world leadership, surpassing the US.
