스페인어 ‘ser’와 한국어 ‘이다’에 대한 인지적 대조분석

‘Ser’ in Spanish is a copulative verb, while ‘ida’ in Korean is a predicative postposition according to the Korean normative grammar. ‘Ida’ in Korean cannot be classified as a verb because it behaves more like an adjective, rejecting progressive and imperative forms. Nevertheless, we perceive ‘ser’ and ‘ida’ identically. We use ‘A ser B’ in Spanish and ‘A-ga B-ida’ in Korean to establish associations of equivalence, similarity, hypernymy, hyponymy, metaphor, etc. between diverse elements. These are immensely productive cognitive mechanisms, so we are extremely accustomed to ‘A ser B’ in Spanish and ‘A-ga B-ida’ in Korean. That is the reason why we consider them identical. However, the bounds of ‘A ser B’ in Spanish are relatively narrow compared to those of ‘A-ga B-ida’ in Korean. ‘A ser B’ is used only to attribute permanent properties or essential characteristics, while ‘A-ga B-ida’ can also be used to denote some temporary relationships. This reflects the fact that the Korean community’s perception of relations is wider than that of the Spanish one’s. Conclusively, this work shows that formal contrastive analysis could be complemented with a cognitive approach.
