Abstract
The purpose of this research is to classify the latent classes in ICT utilization and attitude among middle school students in Korea, and to verify the differences in computer and information literacy and computational thinking of each latent class to derive educational implications. To achieve these objectives, latent profile analysis was conducted on 2,875 second-year middle school students nationwide collected in the 2018 International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS 2018). The results were classified into three types: the low-level group (27.6%), the high-level attitude group (35.1%) and the high-level utilization group (37.2%). As a result of analyzing the differences in computer and information literacy and computational thinking by latent profile, the average of computer information literacy and computational thinking was the highest in the high-level attitude group, followed by the high-level utilization group and the low-level group. The differences were statistically significant. This study is significant in that it provided a method to improve computer and information literacy and computational thinking through large-scale data analysis.
