재적응 학교형 대안학교의 문화와 학교 내 신체활동 탐색 : 한 고등학교 사례를 중심으로

본 연구는 ‘재적응 학교형’ 대안교육 특성화고등학교의 학교문화와 학교 내 신체활동을 탐색하고 그 둘의 연관성을대안학교의 특성을 기반으로 파악하고자 했다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 단일 사례 연구 방법을 활용하였다. 경기도소재 대안교육 특성화고등학교인 D학교에 10년 이상 근무한 교사 4인을 연구 참여자로 선정하고 관찰과 심층면담을중심으로 질적 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 사례를 있는 그대로 살펴보는 기술의 과정을 거쳐 귀납적 범주분석방식으로 분석, 해석하였다. D학교문화로는 ‘주요 사안을 구성원이 결정하는 자치’, ‘격의 없는 수평적 구성원 관계’, ‘함께하는 학교’로 확인되었고, 학내 신체활동 프로그램 특성은 ‘환경과 여건을 극복하여 운영되는 체육수업’, ‘수업성공의 척도는 학생의 목소리’, ‘함께하는 신체활동’으로 나타났다. 선행연구에서 드러난 대안학교의 특성(자치, 공동체성)과 본 연구에서 확인된 특성(관계)을 기반으로 D학교의 학교문화와 학내 신체활동의 관계에 대하여 논의하였다. 본 연구는 일반학교 문화 연구에 실천적 자료를 제공하고 학교문화와 학내 신체활동 프로그램의 연결점에 대한시사점을 제공하는 계기가 될 것이다.
Abstract
This study explores the school culture and physical activities of a “re-adaptive type”alternative specialized high school to understand their relationship based on the characteristics of the school. The study used a qualitative single case study method. Four teachers who had worked for more than ten years in the school located in Gyeonggi-do participated in the study, and data were collected using observation and in-depth interviews. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted in an inductive category analysis method. The results of the study are as follows: The school culture was identified as "self-governance where members determined major issues," "horizontal membership," and "advantages of being together in school." The features of the physical activities were "operating physical classes by overcoming difficult environments and conditions," "accepting students' voices leads to the success of the class,” and “encouraging all school members, including teachers and students, to get involved in physical activities.” Based on the results, this study discusses two general characteristics of alternative schools—‘autonomy,’ ‘community’—and ‘relationship’ which explained the association between school culture and physical activities. This study provides empirical data for general school culture research and provides implications for the relationship between school culture and in-school physical activity programs.
