본 논문은 문화의 유형, 도덕성 형성의 유형, 그리고 윤리적 실천의 유형을 살펴보는 가운데 이를 통해 윤리문화의 유형을 분류하려 시도하고 있다. 문화의 유형으로는 크게 두가지로서 지속성 및 통합성이 중심적인 문화와 변화 및 분기성이 중심적인 문화가 있으며, 도덕성 형성의 유형으로는 도덕성의 내재화가 중심적인 경우와 도덕판단 능력이 중심적인 경우가 있다. 그리고 윤리적 실천의 유형으로는 선의 추구와 실천이 중심적인 유형과 올바름의 추구와 실천이 중심적인 유형이 있다. 여기서 지속성과 통합성, 내재화, 선의 실천이 밀접한 관계를 갖고 있다면, 변화와 분기성, 도덕판단 능력, 올바름의 실천이 또한 긴밀한 연관을 맺고 있음을 알 수 있으며, 이 때 전자를 대변하는 윤리문화를 공동체윤리문화 그리고 후자를 대변하는 윤리문화를 시민사회윤리문화라고 할 수 있다. 일정한 사회가 이 두 윤리문화의 요소들을 어느정도 소지하고 있는가에 따라 그 사회의 윤리문화적 성격을 파악할 수 있을 뿐아니라 이를 통해 각각의 사회의 윤리문화를 비교할 수 있다. 이렇게 볼 때 선의 실천의 요소들이 중심인 사회가 공동체적 윤리문화의 사회라면, 올바름의 실천의 요소들이 중심인 사회는 시민사회적 윤리문화의 사회라고 할 수 있다. 그리고 양쪽 요소들이 상호 균형적 조화를 이루며 잘 고양되고 있는 사회가 이상적 윤리문화의 사회라면, 양쪽 요소들을 함께 상당한 정도로 결한 사회는 무규범적 윤리문화의 사회로 지칭될 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper is attempting the classification of the types of ethical culture through examining of the types of culture, formation of morality, and ethical practice. The culture can be grouped into two types, the culture of continuity and integration and the culture of divergence. And the formation of morality can be grouped into two types, the internalization of morality and the faculty of moral judgement. The ethical practice can be also grouped into two types, the practice of the good and the practice of the right. Here the elements of the continuity and integration, internalization, and practice of the good are brought into close relation. And the divergence, faculty of moral judgement, and practice of the right are also brought into the same category. Finally the ones represent the ethical culture of community and the others the ethical culture of civil society. We can grasp and compare the characteristics of the ethical cultures of certain societies through the degree possessing the constituents of the ethical culture of community and civil society. The society in which the practices of the good and right are enhanced and keep balance can be named the society of ideal ethical culture, while the society in which the practice of the good and right are lacking together can be called the society of normless ethical culture.
